In chapter 14 of 1 Samuel, we saw Saul’s second major error, that of seeking to put his own work, above God’s work. In 1 Samuel chapter 15 Saul makes his third error – that of seeking his own glory above God’s glory. Saul actually sinks to the point of glorying in his disobedience, rather than mourning over it. The sober lessons in this chapter will help us to see that there is always much to regret and much to lose, when we choose disobedience. Also, we see the consequences of seeking to do things for our own advancement, rather than advancing the kingdom of God.
