Jealously & envy can have a very powerful effect upon a person life, and they can ultimately hinder a person from pursuing God’s will, being motivated by the flesh rather than being led by the Spirit. In chapters 18-20, we see the very ugly reality of what jealousy & envy can produce in a person’s life as we observe Saul’s jealousy toward David. See if you can spot the four reasons which caused Saul to be jealous in chapter 18. Also, see if you can identify the seven different ways that Saul lashes out at David because of his jealousy toward him. Just remember that jealousy always looks worse in someone else’s life, so why not take the opportunity to examine our own hearts before God to make sure that this hasn’t become our motivation in some way.
