Over the next three weeks, we will be taking a break from our verse-by-verse study series through the book of Hebrews in order to pay special attention to the doctrine of the local church along with church membership, while finishing with the vision and direction for our fellowship for the year ahead.
The term “dating the church” is sometimes used to describe the present attitude that many believers a large have in regard to their thinking of the local church. There’s no denying that we live in a consumer-driven society, but unfortunately, when this thinking is applied to one’s involvement in the local church, it causes a breakdown in God’s design for building up believers through which Christ is glorified. This is going to be a critically important subject for us to consider as a fellowship to ensure that we’re thinking biblically about the local church in the midst of much confusion and ignorance.
Next Sunday, we will be beginning with the subject of what church membership is and why it’s important. We’d love to encourage everyone to track with these studies, along with discussing & considering them in more detail with their families.
