Today we take a break from our study through the book of 1 John, so that we can devote the time to sharing the vision & direction for our fellowship for 2016. As with previous years, this time is essentially a big “family meeting” where we can talk about the “big picture” of what we’re doing, and where we’re going as a local church fellowship. Instead of expositing a text of Scripture as usual, we consider how the “big picture” principles of Scripture can be worked out in the life of our church family in the coming year.
We start by looking at our own relationship with God, but then breaking things down into three main areas of “responsibility through relationships” that each one of us have: 1.) Responsibility through relationships within the home 2.) Responsibility through relationships within the church 3.) Responsibility through relationships to unbelievers. Essentially, the three areas of commitment that form the vision/direction are family discipleship, fellowship & discipleship within the local church, and evangelism. For each of these three areas of focus, we will be explaining what outcomes we want to be working towards, along with what encouragement we will be bringing to each area of focus in 2016.
