In this week’s study, it is still at the final night of Jesus’ life, before His death
by way of crucifixion. Following the Lord’s last supper, where Jesus predicted that
one of the disciples would betray Him; and following Jesus’ time in the garden of
Gethsemane, where Jesus predicted that the rest of His disciples would abandon
Him; in this week’s passage, we come to the point where these two predictions come
to pass. Now that Jesus has been strengthened through His time of prayer in the
garden, He is ready to face the horror, the humiliation, and the agony which lay
ahead of Him, which all begins with His arrest that very night.
