Mark 6:30-44

As we come to this section in the sixth chapter of Mark we see Jesus bringing his disciples aside for something very important – rest! However, the rest didn’t last long before the multitudes followed and wanted to see/hear Jesus again. What seems like an inconvenience to the disciples, ends up being a perfect opportunity for Jesus to remind them in a powerful way of His compassion, His power, and His provision. As disciples we need to remember that we are on God’s mission, not our own. Because of this, we can trust Him to provide for us, in all the places He has guided us. The important thing for us to remember is that when we are on Christ’s mission, He promises to provide for our needs, not our greeds – and there is a difference! Thankfully the Lord knows what we really need, more than we do.
