As we come to chapter 3 in the gospel of Mark, we see Jesus continuing His ministry in the synagogues. Despite healing a man of a withered had, Jesus again is confronted by the Pharisees, with their schemes and accusations. Unwavered by this, Jesus presses forward, doing all His Father had called Him to do. Following on from this, there are many who still want to be blessed and healed by Jesus and wherever He goes, the crowds follow. However, the crowds were not the ones who dictated the amount of ministry Jesus would undertake. He was directed by and submitted to a much greater authority - that of His heavenly Father. We learn much in this passage about the need to stay focused on the mission God has called us to, and how we can avoid unnecessary distraction from the will of God for our lives.
