Hosea 11-14

As we come to the final study in the book of Hosea, we see that Hosea’s prophecy does not end on a gloomy note. He sees the future glory of the nation. Just as his wife was brought back from slavery and restored to his home and heart, so the nation would one day be restored to her land and to her Lord.

These closing chapters magnify the faithful love of God in contrast to the unfaithfulness of His people. In chapters 4-7, we saw that Israel was a polluted people. In chapters 8-10, we saw that Israel would be a punished people. Whereas in chapters 11-14, we’re going to see that Israel were a prized people, and would soon be a pardoned people. In chapter 14, God promises to heal their backslidings and restore them to His favour (Hosea 14:4). He pictures the nation as a fruitful tree or vine (Hosea 14:4-7) once the nation has turned from her idols and returned to the Lord.
